John P. Navarra, RPh, is a renowned clinical pharmacist who has devoted more than a half-century to improving the health outcomes of generations of New Yorkers. He has owned Town Drug Pharmacy in Morningside Heights since 1982.
Mr. Navarra’s patients receive personal service and support, including private consultations, help with medication management, vaccinations, monthly prescription refill reminders, and daily calls to those individuals who require a bit more attention. Older neighbors in particular, and especially those who mention “LiLY,” are treated with the utmost respect. He has been known to make home visits to address the needs of his geriatric population who may not be able to get to the pharmacy.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Town Drug was one of the first pharmacies in Morningside Heights to obtain the vaccine. The pharmacy was a literal lifesaving resource for many in the LiLY community, as well as other New Yorkers eager to get vaccinated.
The Town Drug staff work closely with physicians and service providers to help assure the best possible outcomes for all their patients.
Over the years, Mr. Navarra has trained and mentored numerous pharmacy students. An industry leader, he has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards throughout his long career, including the profession’s highest honor: The Bowl of Hygeia Award, for his outstanding record of community service.
